Was sifting trhough the log files at 2AM when my console blew up with a barrage of failed auth attempts. some bot apparently thought port 22 was an open invitation to a party. problem is they didnt even say hello before hammering the sshd daemon. felt like a digital tapdance nobody asked for. that pesky crawler mustve been running on redbull and bad ideas. i just slapped a deny rule and called it a day. anyone else seeing ghost connections around midnight lately. pro tip keep those ports locked unless youre expecting houseguests.
